In careers in life, resume is the most important. Why?
A résumé is what will make your name part of the shortlisted ones, it is what will let the employer acknowledge that someone has applied for a particular post (beside your application letter if requested) also will decide if you will be called by the employer for an aptitude test. Resume does the first presentation before your appearance. It then depend on you how successful it will be.
People see it as a micro issue in their career life. Yes it is micro but that is the starting point of a career which cannot be ignored if you want to pursue and succeed in your career path. The first item students will need in a job search is a résumé. This is a very important step, because if they don’t have a worthy resume, they won’t be able to get past the first stage.
Why is the employer so interested in your résumé? You should know that a résumé is a marketing tool which is designed to arrest the interest of your employer and grant you access to the next level or stage of the process (recruitment process) It presents you in writing your skills, accomplishments and qualifications that you possess. It is the key comment and the first opening introduction to the employer. It is a written inventory of your skill, accomplishments, experience, and education background to date. In general, the purpose of a resume is to give prospective employers enough information about you so that they invite will you for an interview.
In order to write it effectively, you need to focus on your intent. Are you writing it with a specific job in mind or are you writing a generic resume? If the former then refer to the job description, it will help you to tailor your résumé, if the latter then focus on skills and accomplishments for that particular position and highlight them on your résumé. This is the first impression that recruiters and hiring managers will have of you, time and effort on your part can be a very worthwhile investment so your résumé should be clear and concise. This means, It should clearly state everything about you, like accomplishment, skills and the purpose of your chosen career path. Make sure that every word in It has a purpose and a significant meaning about you. Remember that your resume speaks for you where you cannot interfere at a point in time.

Things To Avoid When Writing A Resume

• Lack of focus in resume: In a recent study by Career Masters Institute, employers wanted resumes to show a clear match between the applicant and a particular job’s requirements. A “general” resume that is not focused on a specific job’s requirements was seen as not competitive.

• Resume not considering employer’s interest: The use of expressions such as “Duties included,” “Responsibilities included,” or “Responsible for’’ are not necessary. Accomplishments are the points that increase reader’s interest, stimulate a request for a job interview, and really help sell you to an employer — much more so than everyday job duties. Be sure also that the accomplishments you list support your career goals and that you tailor them to the job you’re targeting with this résumé.

• Resume lacks keywords: Job-hunting today increasingly revolves around the mysterious world of keywords. Employers’ reliance on keywords to find the job candidates they want to interview, perhaps he has come about what they want in recent years.

• Not being bold enough to include what you have accomplished:
One of the biggest resume mistakes is “underselling your role or accomplishments,” said Keystone’s Locey. Job applicants, she continued, “are often worried about appearing to inflate their experiences, or taking credit for something that others also participated in; they often actually under-represent their accomplishments.”
While you don’t want to lay claim to more than you did, “you do want to claim your accomplishments, and make it clear what you actually did,” Locey said

• Spelling Errors, Typing errors, and Bad Grammar: Always proofread your résumé carefully. Do not count on spell check to catch mistakes that you may have made during Its writing process.

• Wrong contact information: Always double-check your contact information, especially if it has been updated recently. If an employer can’t contact you using the information on your resume, they won’t worry contacting you at all.

• Not Enough Information and too much information: When listing you job experience/job duties on your résumé, try to include information about what you have accomplished. Your résumé should feature education and work experience that is relevant to the job you are applying for. Additional information, remember that the recruiter has many resumes to check and by seeing irrelevant things may reduce his interest in your resume. Avoid including personal information and other people’s information that are not required for the prospective employment. On average, a resume is given less than two minutes reading time, so you’ll want to make sure that the content that it does contain matters and sells you well. If you’re tempted to bloat it, keep in mind that the interview is the right place to share more information.
